IVY SEA'S INTERNSHIP AND RESIDENCY PROGRAMS

While it sounds great in theory, demonstrating a passion for service, excellence and learning-- and doing it in an entrepreneurial consulting environment with a small, close-knit team -- requires a very specific sort of person. It's just not for everyone. So, in keeping with our creative approach to many things, new members of the Ivy Sea, Inc. team join us as either residents or interns.

Ivy Sea internships and residencies are closely supervised, finite in length and focus on specific projects. Most Ivy Sea interns are pursuing or have recently completed graduate degrees. Some internships lead to a full-time residency.

Residency allows the new staff member with more experience to test themselves in our business model and work environment. After a successful transition, residents may be invited to join a select group of Core Team or Collaboration Network members who thrive on communication, learning, service and the pressure of continual refinement.

Check out these testimonials from Ivy Sea internship and residency participants.

What's an Ivy Sea residency or internship like?

"The Ivy Sea staff is committed to delivering high quality service to their clients on a daily basis. It was refreshing to not only witness, but participate in the success of a company that delivers customized solutions to their clients. As an intern, I was treated with the utmost respect and given the opportunity to participate in real world projects. The projects I completed for Ivy Sea enabled me to directly apply concepts and information from my business classes to real life situations.

I have always understood and believed intuitively that effective communication is vital to a successful business. However, at Ivy Sea I observed how successful strategic communication can enhance a company’s productivity and profitability. I highly recommend an internship at Ivy Sea. You'll work hard, but the experience is well worth it!"

IVC Intern - Management Consulting
June 1997 – January 1998

"My internship at Ivy Sea, Inc. provided me with valuable insights into the communication consulting business. The research I did during my internship showed me the diversity of issues affected by communication, like productivity, absenteeism, motivation, etc. From research and exposure to actual projects, I learned about approaches like formal feedback systems or trust building measures that help improve communication. The internship allowed me to relate theoretical knowledge from classes in communication, leadership, management, organizational development and intercultural issues to real world problems. At the same time, I could see the process a consulting project undergoes.

I highly enjoyed my time with Ivy Sea and appreciate the effort everyone made to integrate me as much as possible into their work. Everyone’s knowledge and willingness to pass that knowledge on makes an internship with Ivy Sea very valuable."

"During my participation on the Ivy Sea team, I learned the true meaning of client service. At Ivy Sea, there are two types of clients: external and internal. Ivy Sea thoroughly investigates each client's needs, goals and background before beginning any project to ensure the highest client service level is met. When you join the Ivy Sea team–as staff , intern or resident–your talents, experience and professional goals are valued and become a part of the group's working dynamic.

At Ivy Sea, there are no boilerplate answers, no 'cookie cutter' solutions and no 'round peg' employees being stuffed into 'square peg' job descriptions."
