Government Affairs

We work to encourage U.S. government agencies, foreign policy think tanks and influential individuals to bring women's sexual and reproductive health and rights into international policy making. To help assure that the values of the Cairo and Beijing conferences are central to U.S. foreign policy and foreign assistance priorities, we sponsor public panels, hold dialogues with government officials, academics and NGOs, and reach out to influential individuals.

Following the unprecedented publicity that the Beijing Fourth World Conference on Women attracted and the unparalleled number of women from the United States who attended -- over 5,000 -- IWHC set out to build on the enthusiasm generated for a "global vision," and for the U.S. as a positive influence on women's empowerment around the world.
