Hal Lefferts - LYRICS

Little Blue Eyed Boy

I was once a little blue-eyed boy
Toy guitar and smile as pure as shining gold
No fear for Tomorrow, no Past to regret
When the movement of Time, it felt so slow,
I didn't know what was to come
It was impossible to tell . . .

Now I come and spin my tales for you
Lies and Truth all blend into a potent brew
Don't worry 'bout the details
It's the Story that counts
As the Strands go on weaving round and round
You never know just where they'll end
Its impossible to tell . . .

On and on the Waters chase the Moon
Pulled and drawn by Forces irresistable
As I walk the night-clad shore
Moonbeams dance on the Wave
And the Stars go on roaring and exploding deep in Space
But from here its impossible to tell
Its impossible to tell . . .

I've learned more about myself from observing my own children than I ever picked up from "self-help" books. Watching each of my kids pick up a little hand-me-down guitar we've had kicking around, and start mimicking my actions, singing "Metamorphosis" or "False Face Society", has always been a source of great enjoyment and enlightenment for me. I would call this a short and somewhat abstract song about Childhood, Time, Space, and growing Old
