Hal Lefferts - LYRICS

Poverty In Paradise

Good morning Sun, how are you today
Does your fire burn as bright as yesterday
I'll be there sometime, but until then
Won't you keep on shining, keep us warm old friend

(Chorus):We're living in poverty in paradise
Given a chance to make things right

Good morning Wind, tell us where you've been
Do you hear the sound of voices singing
When the many languages all blend in song
Then we will know that Peace is won

(Chorus)

Good morning Friend, who are you today
You sure look familiar but your face has changed
Through a million lifetimes we come and go
I just wanted to tell you, I always love you so

(Chorus)

I wrote this song for my wife while sitting on our front porch on the first nice, warm Spring morning in Maine a few years ago. I was wondering just how we were going to pay the family bills, while at the same time I was appreciating how incredibly beautiful the place we were living was. It just struck me as ironic how we could be so poor and so rich at the same time. Never the less, its still basically a love song to my best friend.
