Natural Gas Supply Association Thanks Pena for Service, Points to Need for Strong Leader to New Energy Secretary
Washington, D.C. -- On behalf of the members of the Natural Gas Supply Association, the organization's president, Nicholas Bush, expressed appreciation for Federico Pena's year of service as Secretary of Energy.
Bush described the Secretary as "hard-working and a quick study on complex energy issues." He praised Secretary Pena's outreach initiatives, noting that in meetings with energy corporation executives, the Secretary "was both candid and well-informed."
Given the importance of energy-market restructuring issues to natural gas producers, Bush said that NGSA members believe the Administration will take into account the need for the next Secretary to have an extensive background in current energy issues. He said the nation would most benefit from a Secretary who is "a proven leader with extensive knowledge of energy markets and a firm grasp of the complex interactions between energy markets and federal regulation."
