A cozy restaurant on one of Oakland's busiest streets. My favorite here is the Caesar salad. Caesar salads have become very popular as of late, and now uniformly grace almost every restaurant menu. Theirs has all the usual ingredients a creamy house made Caesar dressing, tossed on crisp romaine and topped with thick fresh grated Parmesan. Contemporary decor and a casual atmosphere, adds an exciting visual element while you dine. The neighborhood folks are pretty friendly too.

They have an impressive list of Italian favorites, like the Ravioli Tradizionali; filled with ricotta cheese & spinach with a choice of pomodoro or gorgonzola sauce. They have a variety of salads, sandwiches and authentic house made pastas. A real palace of all things pasta.

Known locally for their specialty full salads, and reputedly "best burgers." Barney’s lives up to their reputation. The extensive menu offers something for everyone. Burger varieties are available in your choice of ground beef, ground turkey, chicken breast and tofu. For vegetarian tastes try the portabella sandwich with any one of their splendid salads; Cobb, Classic Caesar, Spinach, and my favorite - The Piedmont. A crisp romaine lettuce salad with mushrooms, sweet red onions, bacon and Caesar dressing. My vote ? best selections!

Using only the finest ingredients and making everything from scratch her commitment to excellent yields everything from Chocolust, "a self-proclaimed "unadulterated chocolate cookie because, aside from the walnut chunks, it' practically pure chocolate a must for chocoholics" to Almond Praline cookies. Her mantra often imitated, never duplicated.

The Cobb Salad is the best in the area, with Lettuce, boiled eggs, sprouts, and yummy blue cheese dressing. For a jazzy brunch experience, the tables next to rail may be worth a few minutes wait to enjoy the musical sounds of the various bands that play there each Sunday from 1 - 5pm.
