BENCHMARK SERIES SPECIFICATIONS

 

1. GENERAL
Furnish And Install All Unitized Movable Metal Partitions As Indicated On Architect's Plans And Specifications. Partition Shall Be "Benchmark Series I" As Manufactured By Dowcraft Corporation, Falconer, New York. Partition Design Shall Consist Of 2-3/8" Thick Insulated Metal Panels, With Projecting Continuous Ceiling Channel, Recessed Vertical Feature Strips, And Flush Continuous Base. System Shall Be Non-Progressive.

2. SHOP DRAWINGS
Drawings Showing Floor Plans, Typical Elevations, Construction Details, Materials, Finishes, Hardware, And Special Conditions Will Be Submitted For Approval After Receipt Of Purchase Order. Material Requirements Will Be Released For Fabrication After Receipt By Partition Manufacturer Of Approvals And Schedules.

3. PANELS
ALL STEEL PANEL: Shall Be 2-3/8" Thick, Constructed Of Two Formed Sheets Of Tension Leveled Furniture Grade Steel - Reinforced Horizontally On Approximate 12" Centers With Solid Organic Fiber Ribs Glued To Each Panel Surface For Strength And Rigidity - And Fully Insulated With 3 Lb. Density Mineral Wool. Panel Verticals Shall Be Securely Attached To The Panel And Slotted Vertically On 1-1/2" Centers To Facilitate Hanging Of Furniture. Panel Bottom Shall Have Two Threaded Levelers For Height Adjustment And Continuous Retainer Clip For Removable Base.
END FILLER PANEL: Shall Be Constructed Similar To All Steel Panel With Slotted Vertical One Edge - With Other Edge Having 2" Deep Overlapping Wall Channel With Light And Sound Seal To Facilitate Width Adjustment. End Filler Panels Are Designed To Be Field Cut.
ALL GLASS PANEL: Shall Be A Unitized Construction Steel Frame And Shall Accommodate Glass Up To 1/4" In Thickness. Glass Shall Be Furnished By Partition Manufacturer To Design, Quality, And 1/4" In Thickness. Frame And Glass To Be Completely Factory Assembled Utilizing Vinyl Glazing Material In Continuous Glass Grooves And Without The Use Of Projecting Glass Stops. Dowcraft Corporation Will Supply 1/4" Clear Tempered Glass Unless Other Wise Specified. Panel Bottom Shall Have Two Threaded Levelers For Height Adjustment And Continuous Retainer Clip For Removable Base.
OPTION (SPECIFY): Glass And Glazing Labor Shall Be Furnished "By Others" At The Jobsite.

4. COMMON PARTS
PROJECTING, CONTINUOUS CEILING CHANNEL: Shall Be Formed Steel, 2-1/4" Deep, In 120" Lengths, With Factory-Applied Light And Sound Seal.
RECESSED VERTICAL FEATURE STRIPS: Shall Be Heavy Gauge, High Impact Abs Plastic, 5/8" Wide And Recessed From The Panel Face. Strips Shall Provide Positive Interlock And Alignment Of Panels Without Use Of Clips.
FLUSH, CONTINUOUS BASE: Shall Be Nominal 4-1/2" High And 96" Long.
FLOOR CHANNEL: To Be Furnished In 120" Lengths With Factory-Applied Light And Sound Seal.

OPTIONAL FLUSH UNITIZED BASE: Shall Be Nominal 4-1/2" High All Panels To Be Shipped With Factory Attached Floor Channel And Base Trim Both Sides. Base Design Shall Incorporate A Vertical Butt Jolnt To Provide Continuous Look. Unitized Base To Be An Integral Part Of The Panel Assembly. (Note: See Electrical Option).

5. MATERIAL All Exposed Sheet Metal Shall Be Cold Rolled Tension Leveled Furniture Grade Steel That Has Been Properly Annealed, Process Levelled, With Smooth Clean Surfaces. Gauge Specified Is United States Standard. Standard Metal Gauges Shall Be:

6. FINISH
PRIME: All Parts Shall Be Thoroughly Degreased, Cleaned, And Treated With An Etched Phosphate Rust Resistant Coating And Be Free From Dirt And Rust.
ENAMEL: Surface Shall Be Prepared As Shown Above After Which Quality Semi-Gloss Rubbed Effect Synthetic Enamel Of Standard Selected Color Shall Be Factory Applied And Then Baked On.
OPTIONAL MATERIALS AND FINISHES: Available On Special Basis. For Fabric, Vinyl, Textured Steel, Custom Colors, Etc - Consult With Factory For Availability, Pricing, And Delivery.

7. STRUCTURAL IMPACT LOAD TEST
Partition Has Been Laboratory Tested According To Astm E-72-80 To Prove That Deflection Will Not Exceed L/120 With A 5 Pound Per Square Foot Live Load Applied Uniformly Over The Surface Of Panel. Certification Provided With Approved Shop Drawings.

8. INSTALLATION
Partition Shall Be Installed Over Finished Floor And Under Suspended Ceiling. Installation Shall Be Performed In A Craftsman-Like Manner With All Vertical Lines Straight And Plumb And All Horizontal Lines Level. Installation Methods Shall Not Cause Any Penetration Of Building Floor Or Ceiling Surfaces. Attachment To Ceiling Grid Shall Be Accomplished With Non-Penetrating Clips. Installer Shall Utilize Velcro Carpet Grippers Or Double-Faced Tape As Needed For Designated Floor Coverings. [Door Frame Stirrups May Be Anchored, If Required, With End User's Approval]. Where Required, Partition Shall Be Neatly Scribed To Fit Existing Building Conditions As Shown On Approved Drawings. Hardware Shall Be Properly Adjusted And Left In Proper Working Order. Paint Touchup Shall Be Made To All Nicks And Scratches That Occur To Partitions During Handling And Installation. Partition Contractor Is Not Responsible For Damage Occurring After Installation Is Completed.
