The strategy of Wicks Broadcast Group was to build and operate a diverse group of middle market television and radio properties. Wicks searched for situations where it was able to buy at reasonable prices, effect operational changes when appropriate, and create significantly increased values. Both Peter D'Acosta, former President of Wicks Television Group, and D. Rex Tackett, former President of Wicks Radio Group, are highly regarded and experienced professional managers with strong track records of success.
Peter D'Acosta, President and Chief Executive Officer (Wicks Television Group) Pete D'Acosta joined Wicks Broadcast Group in August 1995. As the Chief Executive Officer of Wicks Television Group, he participated in all aspects of the company's management and operations. Mr. D'Acosta was involved in the day-to-day operations of all of the television stations, and actively participated in the selection and due diligence of possible acquisitions. Mr. D'Acosta has been involved in the television industry for over 15 years. Previously, he was the President of Epic Broadcasting Co. (parent company of KJTL-TV in Wichita Falls and KCIT-TV in Amarillo). Prior to that, he was involved in various television management functions, in addition to owning his own advertising agency. He serves, or has served, on the following boards in Wichita Falls: Beacon Lighthouse for the Blind; Big Brothers and Sisters; Children's Treasure Chest; Hospice of Wichita Falls; and First Shelter for Battered Women and Children. Mr. D'Acosta graduated from Texas Tech University.
D. Rex Tackett, President and Chief Executive Officer (Wicks Radio Group) D. Rex Tackett joined Wicks Broadcast Group in June 1993. As the Chief Executive Officer of Wicks Radio Group, he participated in all aspects of the company's management and operations. Mr. Tackett was involved in the day-to-day operations of all of the radio stations, and actively participated in the selection and due diligence of possible acquisitions. Mr. Tackett has been involved in the radio broadcasting business for over 25 years. He began as an account executive in Amarillo, Texas and rose to be a top executive at both Doubleday Broadcasting and Clear Channel Communications. Immediately prior to joining Wicks Radio Group, Mr. Tackett worked for Clear Channel as a Vice President and Regional Manager of several radio stations in markets such as Houston, Oklahoma City and Beaumont/Port Arthur, Texas. Mr. Tackett attended Texas Tech University.
