it themselves. Special protozoa live in the gut of every
termite, breaking down the cellulose so that the termite can absorb the nutrients.

protozoa, effectively destroying the termite's ability to
obtain any nutrients from its food. The more it eats, the more it starves.
And since worker termites bring the food for other members of the population, those being fed by the worker termites can also be affected.
As others feed either on the mulch or the dead termites, and are affected, the overall result is a reduction of the termite activity around your home.
