Neither!! Term-A-RID 613™ mulch is not recommended as a stand alone treatment for termites, but rather as an aid in the abatement of termites on your property as part of an integrated pest management program for termites.

Do termites live in mulch?
|
No! Subterranean termites live in colonies under the ground,
but there have been numerous cases where homeowners and pest control operators have
found termites in mulch, pine straw, and other types of ground cover.
The workers or foragers search just below the ground surface for cellulosic (food) materials. Most
mulches contain some form of ground or shredded wood which contains cellulose. If the termites find and consume
the Term-A-RID 613™ mulch they will be affected. In addition, any other termites who receive food from the affected termites will also be affected.

|
No! Term-A-RID 613™ mulch has no specific odor or smell beyond that of ordinary, untreated wood mulch.

How long does the active ingredient in Term-A-RID 613™ mulch last?
|
The active ingredient in Term-A-RID 613™ mulch will remain effective as long as the mulch itself lasts.
The mulch will degrade similarly to ordinary mulch, but at a slower pace. You will have to occasionally replenish areas where the mulch has degraded.

Is Term-A-RID 613™ mulch safe around humans, pets, wildlife and birds?

The active ingredient in Term-A-RID 613™ mulch is a salt of Boric Acid.
Boric Acid and its salts are used in many items you use every day including eye drops,
skin care products, detergents, and many other common household products. It has been shown that the borate
used in the Term-A-RID 613™ mulch is less toxic than common table salt.

Will using Term-A-RID 613™ mulch around my home injure my plants and flowers?
|
It is not recommended to use Term-A-RID 613™ mulch around very sensitive plants such as African violets, orchids, etc.
Neither is it recommended to use any wood containing mulches around sensitive plants.
The amount of borate infused in the Term-A-RID 613™ mulch is very low, so low that it is unlikely
that enough would ever be absorbed by plants to cause any harm. It has been shown that Boron is an essential
element to sustain growth in almost all forms of plant life. One of the largest uses of borate is in agriculture to increase yields and the health of many crops.
