Olney Soccer Club provides quality soccer programs for youth players from ages five to eighteen and develops strong travel teams capable of competing at the highest level of competition.

The club is committed to being an active and responsible youth sports organization in the local community. The club’s programs include:

• Travel teams for boys and girls ages 9 to 18 in NCSL and WAGS. Our goal is to enhance the soccer development of our players by playing at the highest competitive level of youth soccer in the metropolitan Washington, DC area. We strive to develop the strongest players and teams to enable each child to reach his/her highest potential as a youth player. • Instructional Program for boys and girls in kindergarten and first grade. Sessions are held Saturday mornings during the fall and spring and are conducted by Glenn Cadenhead and high school travel players. The children are taught basic skills in a fun environment. • Developmental Program for boys and girls in second and third grades. Practices are Wednesday evenings with a series of 4v4 games Saturday mornings. • Olney/Bethesda Soccer League for U9 and U10 boys and girls teams. The league is operated as a partnership with Bethesda Soccer Club and is sanctioned by MSYSA. OBSL is a developmental league offering teams a transition between house and travel. The club’s OBSL teams provide the nucleus of our entry level U10 and U11 travel teams. • Annual Summer Camp with emphasis on 5 to 14 year old players. Camp is designed for the club’s younger travel teams, Instructional and Developmental players and is open to all youth players. • Weekly goalkeeper training sessions during the spring and fall seasons conducted by Alan Kelly, goalkeeper coach for DC United. (Return to the top of this page.)

• Annual winter skill-training sessions for travel and developmental players. (Return to the top of this page.)

• Payment of the tournament fee for the NCSL Capital Cup for U18 teams that have been associated with the club for three years. (Return to the top of this page.)

• Annual Olney Soccer Club Washington Fall Classic Tournament. The Olney Soccer Club's annual Fall Classic tournament is held Labor Day weekend and features the fields at the Maryland Soccerplex. (Return to the top of this page.)

• Maintenance of the Route 108 Field as the premier youth soccer facility in Suburban Maryland. The club has adopted the upper field at Rosa Parks Middle School under an agreement with Montgomery County. (Return to the top of this page.)

• Student Service Learning Credits are provided to high school age group players coaching in the Instructional and Developmental Programs and working in other club functions. This aids our high school players in meeting the Maryland High School Graduation Requirement for Student Service Learning. (Return to the top of this page.)

• Annual scholarships awarded to outstanding senior soccer players at Sherwood and Magruder High Schools. These are considered academic awards by the schools. The awards are based on technical soccer skills, sportsmanship, character, leadership, academic record and extracurricular and community activities. The awards give special recognition to a student-athlete at the two high schools in the Olney/Derwood area. (Return to the top of this page.)
