How to Order from Us:

By email: We do not have a secure server yet, but you are still welcome to email us your order. If you like, you can email us all your information except your credit card number, and we will call you for that at your convenience. If you have ordered with us before (recently), just include the last four digits of your credit card and the expiration date. We should have the full number in our computer.

Payment Methods:
Orders may be paid by credit card (American Express, Visa or Mastercard) or by check or money order. If you wish to send a check we will hold the books until the check arrives. Please call or email us to find out what the exact shipping charge (and tax if applicable) will be so the amount of the check is correct.

Store Services

Gift Certificates:
We sell gift certificates (gift-wrapped with our store catalogue) in any amount starting at $10.00.

Gift Wrap and Gift Purchases:
Need to send a gift? We are happy to gift wrap part or all of your order, at no charge. We can also enclose gift cards and send items directly to your friends (we will send you your receipts separately). Please indicate in your order that you need gift wrap or that the items need to be sent to a second party as a gift (and provide the address), and we will take care of it for you.

"Frequent Buyer" Rewards Program:
This is our way of saying a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our loyal, longtime customers, as well as our new ones!
In store: When you make a purchase in the store you will be given a "Frequent Buyer" card which will be stamped each time you make a purchase of any amount. When you have five stamps on your card you will receive a $10.00 gift certificate to the store! The gift certificate is valid forever and is redeemable in person or through the mail.
Mail order: Mail orders customers won't actually get a card--each purchase will be coded in our computerized customer files under your name and a certificate will be mailed to you after the fifth purchase--the reward is the same!

Corporate and Travel Industry Services
You have an excellent resource in the Traveller's Bookstore, with our knowledgeable, experienced staff and large title base. I invite you to think of us the next time you need background material for a trip, gifts for your clients or recommended reading lists.

Discounts:
If you are a travel agent or a tour operator, with ID to prove it, you are eligible for a 10% discount on any and all purchases in store or through the mail (for your first mail order we ask that you fax us a copy of your ID, after that we will have your information in our computers and all you need to do is remind us that you get a discount).

Special Orders and Bulk Orders:
We are happy to special order any book in print, and are very experienced at doing bulk orders for companies and individuals. We can get whatever you need quickly and efficiently, and we offer bulk discounts. We can usually get your order to you overnight, or, if you are in Manhattan, we can arrange to have your order messengered to you. Store Policies

Our Guarantee:
We never sell or rent our customer lists. We will keep your name, address, credit card number and other information completely confidential. We have only experienced, responsible travellers and booksellers working with us in the store and in our mail order department, and they are always available during store hours to answer questions and help advise you on your orders. Please feel free to call us.

Price Changes:
Prices often change as a result of publishers' reprinting or new editions becoming available. If the price of an item goes up, we reserve the right to add the additional amount to your order (we will let you know if this is the case).

Backorders:
Occasionally, due to unusual demand, we may be out of stock on a particular item and it may be necessary to backorder it for you. You will be notified by email or a phone call and may cancel the backorder or request an alternate item. Otherwise, we will ship the original item to you free freight when it comes back in stock.If the backorder is due to the publisher being out of stock, or the publication date being delayed, we will charge freight when the backorder finally becomes available for shipping.

Return Policy:
If you are not satisfied with an item, you may return it for store credit or exchange. No refunds to credit cards or in cash are given except in (the extremely rare) case of a store mistake.

Shipping Methods

Domestic orders:
We ship via UPS Ground Service unless the customer requests another method of shipment, or has a P.O. box address (UPS does not deliver to P.O. boxes, those are mailed through the post office). Ground UPS usually takes 3 to 5 days (about one week to the West Coast). We charge our customers the exact rate charged by the particular carrier, plus a $1.00 handling fee.
Note: All orders being shipped within New York State will be charged sales tax. We add a $1 shipping and handling charge to all domestic orders.

Expedited orders:
We can also send orders by Federal Express or UPS Next Day and Second Day Air if customers need them right away. We will charge your credit card for the exact amount plus a $1.00 shipping and handling fee.
Same-day messenger service is available within Manhattan.

Overseas Orders:
We usually send packages abroad by the U.S. Postal Service's First Class Air Mail (usually takes one week or so to Europe) or Priority Mail (which is guaranteed). If requested, we can also send packages by Surface mail which is cheaper but takes 4 to 6 weeks, minimum. We also use Federal Express, DHL or UPS for very fast, traceable shipments at the customer's request. Rates vary depending on weight and destination, so please call or email us for an exact figure. We add a $2 handling fee for foreign orders.
