Services Provided

  • Emergency Attendant Services - Male and female attendants are on-call 24 hours a day 7 days a week for non-medical personal care emergencies, urgent errands, and urgent household needs. There is a charge of $12 dollars the first hour and $3 dollars every 15 minutes after. Check with our office regarding advance scheduling.

  • Emergency Wheelchair Transportation - We have a lift-equipped van to transport clients and/or wheelchairs, scooters and other adaptive equipment originating within Berkeley to a destination within a mile of Berkeley. There is a $12.00 per hour charge for this service.

  • Emergency Wheelchair Repair-Minor wheelchair repair, including belts, batteries and tires, is available outside of the regular business hours of the local wheelchair repair shops. There is a $12.00 per hour charge for this service.
  • NEW TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION FOR ON THE GO TRANSPORTATION: EDI’s new non-emergency, demand-response lift-equipped van service is available to EDIDA clients, who are also clients of Berkeley Para Transit Services and utilize the city’s Wheelchair-Van Program. Non-emergency, demand response rides are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am-11:30 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30am-11:30pm. Rides can be scheduled up to three hours before they are needed. Non-emergency, demand-response rides cannot be scheduled the day before. All EDIDA rides must remain within one mile of the city of Berkeley. Demand-response rides can only be paid for with a GREEN van voucher purchased through Berkeley Para Transit. Emergency rides will still be $12.00 per ride. Please remember GREEN vouchers are the only accepted form of payment for demand-response rides. Please call the office for more information at (510) 845-5513.

  • MEDICAL RETURN TRIP IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM: Berkeley Paratransit Services and Easy Does It are pleased to participate in the Medical Return Trip Improvement Program (also called MrTrip). MrTrip is a new program funded by Alameda County Measure B Funds that provides limited subsidies for a taxicab or van ride to Berkeley Paratransit Services participants returning from a health related visit. A health related visit includes doctor appointments, dental and eye exams, dialysis treatments, physical therapy (including use of the warm pool) and visits to the hospital (including emergency room).

MrTrip allows Berkeley Paratransit Services to provide on demand medical return trip services to consumers. Use whatever form of transportation you like to get to your medical appointment, Easy Bay Paratransit, an accessible taxi, wheelchair-accessible van or a ride from a friend. With the new MrTrip program, when you finish your doctor's appointment you can return home in our wheelchair accessible van. All we require is that you use the orange Medical-Return Ride Voucher to certify that your ride was a medical return trip. Orange Medical-Return Ride Vouchers must be signed by a representative of the facility you are getting picked up from. Orange Medical-Return vouchers cannot be used for any other purpose other then a trip home from a medical facility.

We are including a list of Frequently Asked Questions to familiarize you with the program. Please review this information and call Berkeley Paratransit Services at 510-981-7269 or Easy Does It at 510-845-5513 if you have any questions regarding MrTrip. Please call 510-704-2111 to schedule a same day, Mrtrip ride through Easy Does It.

  • Client Advocate/Case Manager- Case managers work with clients to improve attendant management and overall independent living skills, to build support networks, maintain health, manage financial resources, and to decrease dependence upon emergency services. There is no charge for this service.
