A Brain Teaser for the Season of Transformation and Renewal "A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; Sometimes our thoughts take the reigns from reality and change the course of our thinking from "possibility" to "impossible!" In these instances, we sabotage ourselves by limiting our potential often resulting in a missed opportunity or the delayed attainment of a worthy goal. When you catch yourself heading down the path of negativity, limitation, pessimism, self-doubt or creating an unhealthy mindset, try this: Tip: Conjure up an image of the opposite. For instance, if youre dreading the thought of completing your budget plan for the upcoming year, paint a mental picture (or make a mental record) of the opposite of that dread and of the successfully completed plan. What does the scene look like when you are delighted to develop the budget plan? How do you feel? What feedback are you hearing from your colleagues and leaders? How will the well-thought-out budget help you in the long-run? Now ask yourself, "How can I make this image a reality?" List the action items, resources and timelines required to turn fiction into fact. When you think youve hit a roadblock, ask a colleague for help. Oftentimes speaking about an issue helps organize it mentally, and an outside perspective can shine a true light on an issue, rather than the microscope youve put it under. This clarity usually brings the solutions to the forefront of your mind! Hungry for more brain-tickling or inspiration? Visit the Ivy Sea Brain Food Cafeteria |
