Michelle Powell
Writer, Singer, Songwriter and Voiceover Artist

One-time Ivy Sea Consultant-in-Residence Michelle Powell has been dedicated to powerful communication as a career for most of her adult life. A writer, singer and voiceover artist for over twenty years, she might be found using her voice and energy as guiding tools in meetings, special events, or visioning and communication workshops, where she endeavors to motivate and inspire participants to express their heartfelt values and desires in their life and work.

Michelle's background as a graphic artist adds to her empathic encouragement when helping students in their visioning and collaging exercises, while her experience in the fitness industry gives her tools to share body-movement and stretching exercises that foster awareness of the physical manifestations of inner feelings – both positive and negative. Her voice is often the guide in the powerful visualization exercises Ivy Sea has developed to bring participants into an open and aware mindset. Her facilitation skills allow her to mediate and broker agreement within groups. She loves art, music and photography and believes that individuals and organizations have the ability to "compose" themselves into a balanced, positive picture.

Prior to her work with Ivy Sea and her current "lifestyle entrepreneur" endeavors, Michelle served as an Internship Coordinator at a hotel and restaurant management school, where she ensured clear communication between students, their counselors and the internship providers. As Assistant Manager at a Gold’s Gym in Pleasanton, she helped bring into being Hacienda Business Park’s first networking group to create business to business alliances. She sold radio air-time, which is how she got started in writing and voicing commercials. While studying journalism at San Jose State University, she was a staff graphic artist for a local community college.

She lives in the historic Niles district of Fremont, CA, where Charlie Chaplin and Fatty Arbuckle made silent films, and enjoys the current population mix of old Fremont families, dot-commers and bikers. Her husband and three orange cats endure her passion for gardening and constant fussing with the flowers in her windowboxes. Michelle still sings locally and writes songs, which she thinks are the ultimate framework for concise communication since she has to tell an entire story in two and a half minutes without wasting a word.
