Who is Ivy Sea's ideal client (and for
whom is Ivy Sea the ideal collaborator)?

What type of client will find Ivy Sea the ideal collaborator? One who knows that there are greater things possible, that his work can be more profound, meaningful, and aligned with the things he's passionate about. She is a decision-maker and influencer, such as an entrepreneur, small-enterprise owner, solopreneur, nonprofit leader, the leader of a group or department within a larger organization or system, or an individual who feels a strong calling to contribute his or her "awakened self" to a good purpose in the world (inspired livelihood).

She may be faced with a transformation — whether due to normal evolution, new ways of working, a change-management initiative, the launch of a new business or enterprise, a desire to practice conscious- or sustainable-business principles, or the realization that performance and reality are not aligned with the vision of what is necessary or optimal.

He may feel fatigued and need to reinvigorate with a fresh look at the vision and an injection of inspiration, and he may want to conceptualize and plot the path towards a new vision of the enterprise (again, particularly if he wants to put into practice the principles of inspired leadership, "big-vision, small-business," conscious-organization or sustainable-enterprise).

Whether a solopreneur, small-enterprise owner, entrepreneur, nonprofit director, education or corporate division leader, he or she is committed, excited about working in a high-integrity collaboration with us, and ready to explore and put into practice the highest potential of his enterprise or her group — to the benefit of the participants and those who receive the products or services of his or her organization.

Organizational Change and Transformation

Internal & Organizational Communication

High-Integrity Sales and Marketing Communication

Organizational Change and Transformation

Internal Communication Assessments and Planning
Ivy Sea has worked with numerous clients to conduct qualitative assessments or "reality checks", conducting interviews with a wide variety of people from throughout the organization to identify issues, opportunities and problems regarding communication. After an assessment, Ivy Sea provides an assessment report, including recommendations, and creates a plan, if desired, for making the most of communication opportunities and resources within the company, and bridging any communication gaps with new approaches or vehicles.

Brainstorming and Idea-Sharing Sessions
Ivy Sea has created and facilitated a number of brainstorming sessions to generate creativity, enhance camaraderie, clarify organizational values or mission, or guide the team through its planning process to setting specific goals. We don't apply "boilerplate" agendas; brainstorm sessions can be informal or formal, depending on what makes sense. Our team helps to establish desired outcomes and create a brainstorm session or workshop that specifically supports a client's needs.

Organizational Transformation Initiative
Ivy Sea was referred to this healthcare delivery system to provide communication counsel for a widespread organizational transformation and growth management effort. Working closely with organizational leaders, Ivy Sea conducted indepth interviews with a sampling of over fifty executives, managers, supervisors and front-line employees on issues concerning communication within the organization. We then provided a report detailing feedback and recommendations, worked with the client to create a communication plan, facilitated brainstorm sessions and provided counsel, coaching and implementation support for the communication program.

New Technology and Standardization Roll-out
Ivy Sea provided communication counsel, planning and interim implementation support for several technology roll-outs. To develop the communication plans, we researched and assessed current communication in balance with company goals and project-specific issues. Ivy Sea created communication tools such as fact sheets, news bulletins and Frequently Asked Questions documents for both print and intranet use. In addition to meeting client needs within the allocated budget, we provided a valuable "outsider" perspective while performing seamlessly as an extension of the project lead's group.

Medical Practice Redesign Initiative
Ivy Sea provided communication counsel, planning and implementation support for a long-term, large-scale practice redesign initiative for a major health care client. The project included raising awareness about the benefits of the new technology solutions. We conducted an assessment, created interim "damage control" communication materials, interviewed more than 20 key leaders and health care providers, and completed a comprehensive communication plan. Ivy Sea continued to provide counsel and coaching to non-communicators and leaders, and researched and wrote a variety of materials (newsletters, talking points, fact sheets, presentations, brochures). Clients said that Ivy Sea was outstanding, responsive and fun to work with; we were referred by the client to others within their organization for subsequent projects.

Organizational and Employee Communication

Employee News-Zine
Ivy Sea was hired by this fast-growing technology client to create and help maintain an eight-page, full-color employee news-zine. Ivy Sea collaborated with the client and design team to translate the smart, fresh organizational culture into the pages of the publication. The first issue garnered praise from employees--who said it was smart, fun and great to read (some read it over the weekend!)--and we earned accolades from the client for work quality and exceptional service and responsiveness.

Information Security Awareness Campaign
For an internet financial services client, Ivy Sea collaborated to brainstorm, plan, launch and maintain a successful communication campaign to raise awareness about the sometimes dry but critical issue of information security. The campaign includes comic strips, intranet content, contests and specialty communications, and has attracted record involvement from employees.

Employee Magapaper
This national retail client called on Ivy Sea to help decrease the cost and increase the overall effectiveness of an expensive inhouse publication. During the course of a very positive 2-plus year relationship, Ivy Sea partnered with the client to write and edit copy, and manage production and distribution of this highly regarded and popular communication tool. We successfully guided the award-winning publication through two redesigns, maintaining the popularity and integrity of the publication while significantly lowering costs. We also worked with the client to successfully transition the project to inhouse staff.

Performance and Benefits Communications
Ivy Sea has worked with several clients on performance review and benefits communications projects. For a major international retailer, Ivy Sea helped create an online performance review tool; for another client, we helped create printed materials, including an instruction guide for managers, to support a new performance review system. For another client, Ivy Sea helped pull together English and Spanish versions of a complex benefits booklet.

Employee Handbooks
For one corporate client, Ivy Sea created a series of employee handbooks, representing four different employment categories: headquarters, management, distribution center and exempt. Our mandate was to update and transform the existing, difficult-to-read material into attractive, engaging and easy-to-understand handbooks. Feedback gathered after distribution indicated that employees found the new handbooks much easier to read and understand. For a fast-growing technology client, Ivy Sea helped create the first-ever series of operational manuals and handbooks to help ensure consistency as the company grows.

Sales and Marketing Communication

Web Site Content Development
Ivy Sea has created content not only for our own award-winning site (which we also maintain), but for numerous client projects as well. For intranet and World Wide Web access, Ivy Sea has conceptualized, researched and written content that supports relationship-building and the effective sharing of information (rather than just relying on technology alone, which can easily alienate users). We have also collaborated with site developers and technologists to help ensure that content is organized logically and is designed in a user-friendly manner through the appropriate use of technology.

E-Commerce Marketing Communication Newsletter
Ivy Sea worked with an electronic commerce client to create the premiere issue of this bimonthly publication in less than one month. Ivy Sea staff members interviewed organizational leaders, technology staff members and strategic partner representatives. As with all projects, Ivy Sea contributors always represented our client in a supportive and distinguishing manner. Due to strong performance, Ivy Sea was engaged to research and write a series of marketing case studies for use in the newsletter, at trade shows and on the corporate web site, and was asked to help create a second publication for communication with alliance partners (see below).

Web Site Content Benchmarking
Ivy Sea performed web benchmarking research and counsel to a major telecommunications-company web team on effective strategies and content for cyberlobbying, educational outreach, investor relations and overall site development.Through extensive research, coupled with a strong understanding of technology and communication, Ivy Sea provided content recommendations and assessments of successful web techniques and potential pitfalls of the medium. The site won more than a dozen awards for its content, ease-of-use and pertinence to site visitors; the client says Ivy Sea's recommendations were vital to creating this award-winning site.

Corporate Capabilities Brochure
Ivy Sea worked with this national energy corporation to create the first marketing capabilities brochure to reflect the newly expanded organization. One of the first efforts to synthesize the capabilities--and communication styles--of newly acquired and created subsidiaries, the capabilities brochure was produced on a tight schedule and in a highly dynamic environment.

Project Archive and Case Studies for Sales and Marketing Teams
Ivy Sea created a project archive that serves as a quick reference for the sales and marketing teams of a rapid-growth, high tech consulting firm. This archive is a useful tool to tap information about past projects and helps to promote the company's varied services through cross-selling. Ivy Sea updated and maintained this archive by editing compiled questionnaires and interviewing project managers. By aligning this with other ongoing projects, Ivy Sea created a valuable partnership with this firm.
