Getting to Frederick

Frederick does have an airport, but the biggest plane that can land fits four people and the family dog...so here are the best options. Luckily, you have plenty.

Baltimore (BWI)

This is probably the easiest airport to fly into if you plan to stay in frederick (or Baltimore). In addition, Southwest Airlines flies into BWI.

Washington Dulles (IAD)

Again, about an hour from Frederick, an easy and scenic drive up route 15.

Reagan National (DCA)

If the plane fare is less...or if you plan on extending your stay in Washington D.C. then this would be the best option. Once again, about an hour of scenic and then highway driving to Frederick.

For those who know me well, I'm a pro at bargain travel. Here are a few of my personal favorites.

Southwest Airlines

Gotta love an airline that still serves honey roasted peanuts (warning: for SWA neophytes that is all you get, pack a snack). SWA flies into BWI and has some great bargains. I suggest signing up for their Internet Specials announcements, which are e-mailed to you weekly.

www.cheaptickets.com

This is a fabulous site. You pick your dates, times and destination and an entire range of prices from different airlines comes up. You can book up to 11 months in advance, and if you start a bit earlier prices can be about $50-$100 (or more) less than the airlines or travel agants quote.

www.priceline.com

This is another great site IF you have already received a quote from your agent. With Priceline you actually name your travel dates, desired times, destination AND your price. If Priceline can match your dates with that price then -Voila- you now are the proud owner of a ticket. Read directions!

Car Rental

You probably already noticed that if you are flying in, car rental is a must. All of these airports have all of the major car rental companies. Reserve early; October is a popular month in the Washington area.

• Take 95 SOUTH
• Exit Baltimore Beltway (695) Heading WEST.
• Take 1-70 WEST
• Follow Directions on other side From 70 West (if you need exact directions to your hotel, we suggest calling the hotel).

• Take Pennsylvania Turnpike to Wildwood Exit.
• Get on I-70 EAST
• Take EXIT 53 to 15 NORTH
• Follow Directions on other side Once you are on 15 NORTH in Frederick (if you need exact directions to your hotel, we suggest calling the hotel).

Directions from various locations to Calvary United Methodist Church
133 West Second Street (corner of West Second and Bentz Street)
Frederick, MD

• Take I-270 NORTH.
• I-270 Turns into 15 NORTH (sign says Gettysburg/Frederick)
• Refer to map below entitled: Once you are on 15 NORTH in Frederick

• Take 15 NORTH into Maryland.
• Continue on 15 NORTH towards Gettysburg (it will be a LEFT exit).
• Refer to map below entitled: Once you are on 15 NORTH in Frederick

• Take 70 WEST to EXIT 53 (to 15 NORTH)
• Refer to map below entitled: Once you are on 15 NORTH in Frederick

• Take a RIGHT out of the Hampton Inn parking lot
• Take a LEFT onto 270 NORTH
• 270 turns into 15 NORTH (sign says Gettysburg/Frederick)
• Refer to map below entitled: Once you are on 15 NORTH in Frederick

• Take a LEFT out of the parking lot.
• Take a LEFT at the first light.
• Take a LEFT onto 15 NORTH
• Refer to map below entitled: Once you are on 15 NORTH in Frederick

• Take a LEFT out of the inn onto 355 NORTH
• Make a LEFT onto RT 80 WEST.
• Make a RIGHT onto 270 NORTH.
• I-270 Turns into 15 NORTH (sign says Gettysburg/Frederick)
• Refer to map below entitled: Once you are on 15 NORTH in Frederick

• Continue on 15 NORTH and get off at Exit 14: ROSEMONT AVENUE
• Make a LEFT at the light at the end of Exit 14 onto ROSEMONT AVENUE (sign between lights says Hood College).
• Approximately 1/2 mile up there is a FORK in the road. Stay RIGHT and ROSEMONT turns into NORTH COLLEGE.
• At the YIELD sign, yield LEFT onto SOUTH COLLEGE PARKWAY
• Go through First STOP SIGN (its immediate) and you will be on ROCKWELL TERRACE.
• Go TWO BLOCKS and make a RIGHT onto NORTH BENTZ.
• Church parking lot is IMMEDIATELY on your left (before grayish stone church).
• You may pull into the small church lot OR
• Best Bet: Make a RIGHT at the first light onto WEST 2nd and park in ample public street parking on either side of street (this may be your best bet to quickly get to the reception).
• OR go through light at WEST 2nd Street, make next LEFT onto CHURCH STREET, Make LEFT on MARKET STREET and make a LEFT onto 2nd Street again. Park on 2nd Street before the church.

• Take a RIGHT out of the front door onto East Patrick Street.
• Take a RIGHT onto MARKET STREET several blocks up.
• Two Blocks up Take a LEFT onto WEST SECOND.
• Park on 2nd Street anywhere after you pass COURT STREET (sign on left)
• Church is on corner of WEST SECOND and BENTZ
• OR go through the light on BENTZ (church is on your left on the corner) and park in ample public parking along WEST SECOND.
