12-night
Mediterranean from Rome to Athens
Love, philosophy, beauty and the soul - each rose like a vision from the warm waters of the Mediterranean. Our most essential ideas about life were polished to perfection around these shores, in wave on wave of creative genius that have left lasting monuments: tall pyramids marching across infinite desert horizons, white temples of Greek marble that overlook azure coves, Roman amphitheaters set into majestic mountainsides, the jewel studded domes of the caliphs, the frescoed palaces of the Renaissance. Such astounding innovations could only happen here, at the crossroads of Europe, Africa and Asia, where the world 's great cultures have for thousands of years met and melded.
Bodily delights have always gone hand in hand with spiritual refinements, making this not only the heartland of civilization, but a playground of the senses. Beside pyramids and mosques are mazelike bazaars, where lush hand-woven rugs and the scents of spices bloom in the shaded twilight. The finest wines in the world ripen on the sun-browned French coast, and the joys of the table reach new heights in the ports and hill-towns of Italy. Even pleasure itself has always been an art form, from the czars' lavish vacation meccas of the Black Sea, to the seaside resorts of Italy and Greece. On these shores you can explore life in all its amazing variety, and immerse yourself in countless eternal images of beauty. |

10-night
Caribbean
(Acapulco to Barbados, Acapulco to San Juan)
Glide through the jade-green jungles that link two continents, ride a ribbon of foam that joins two oceans. The Panama Canal is the eight wonder of the world, an engineering marvel that lets you do the impossible: sail straight through the middle of a tropical rain forest.
Here in the heart of Latin America, man and Nature have long strived to outdo one another. Centuries before Columbus, the Mayas built vast pyramids in the Yucatan rain forests. Spanish colonial towns in gold and magenta stand outlined against volcanic peaks. Yet the interplay with Nature also has a pleasure-loving side. Cliff divers arc through space, playing tag with the jagged rocks before slipping into the warm ocean below. In seaside resorts the Beautiful People worship the sun till dusk, then dance long under the moon.
Just across the Canal lies the Caribbean, where nature and man together
have created other masterpieces. Nature shaped bright coral into a
universe of islands, where English buccaneers, Dutch adventurers,
and African slaves planted cultural seeds that have blossomed into
countries both familiar, and curiously foreign. The bobbies in Bermuda
are mad about cricket, and Dutch gingerbread houses line the streets
of Aruba. Yet the islands have their own distinctive culture and atmosphere.
As you drift through this kaleidoscope of mind and senses, you begin
to see which things in life are essential to you.
