Notes for Thomas Logan
Tradition has it that Thomas Logan's father was with Napoleon's army when it crossed the alps. This from a descendant, Alice Kendall Johnson, in 1912. 18

But let's think about this would mean. Thomas Logan was born in 1764. His father was probably born circa 1740. Napoleon crossed the Alps in 1799, I believe. THis would mean that Logan's father would have been around 60. What would a 60 year old Irishman be doing with Napoleon's army in Switzerland. It is certainly not impossible, but it has an element of fantasy to it--Rick Beyer, March 2002.

'The last will and Testament of Thomas Logan of the Borough of McConnellburg, Fulton Co.,PA

I, Thomas Logan, considering the uncertainty of life in this world and being of good health, of sound and disposing mind, do make this my last will and testament as follows:
After my debts are paid I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Keziah, the brick house we now reside in, with the lot on which it stands and the square of lots containing about one acres in the north part of the borough of McConnellsburg for and during her natural life. Also the interest of three thousand dollars to be paid her annually as long as she lives, all the household and kitchen furniture in the house we live in, or about house I give her absolutely.
I give and bequeath to my son David nothing, inasmuch as I have already well provided for him.
I give and bequeath to my daughter, Sarah Barton, two hundred dollars in addition to the land I have already made a deed to for her.
I give, bequeath and devise to my son, Joseph C., who resides in the State of Michigan, and to his heirs, the farm he lives on, also one thousand dollars.
I give, bequeath and devise to my son, Thomas and his heirs, the tract of land in Air Township on which he now lives. Also the "Martin tract" adjoining, containing 60 acres for which I have made a deed.
I give, devise and bequeath to my son, Samuel and his heirs the farm he now lives on in Harrison Township, also two thousand dollars.
I give and bequeath to my daughter, Keziah Nelson one thousand dollars.
I give and bequeath to the children of my son, John, two thousand five hundred dollars, to be equally divided among them, to be paid by my executors to each one as they arrive at the age of 21 years, with the interest from my death.
I give and bequest to my daughter, Margaret Kendall four thousand five hundred dollars.
I give and bequeath to my son, James, the sum of one thousand dollars.
I give and bequeath to my son, William C., two thousand dollars, but William is to account for the money he has or may collect for me the amount of which will appear by his receipts to me for the same claims remaining among my papers at my death, he is also to account for the note I hold against him for three thousand and seventy dollars. The devises and legacies to my other children are to be without any deductions or abatement for or on account of any advancements I may have made to them heretofore, and if there should be any indebtedness against any of my children before this date, except against William, they are to be cancelled.
I hereby authorize my executors to sell the five or six acres of land adjoining George Hokes Mill tract and after the death of my wife, to all the real estate devised to her for life, and for the rest and residue of my estate, I desire that it be divided among my seven following named children: Sarah, Joseph, Samuel, Keziah, Margaret, James and William, in proportion to the money legacies herein before given to them.
Lastly I nominate, constitute and appoint my son William and my son in law, James Kendall, to be Executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me and declaring this and no other to be my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventh day of Feb A.D. 1844
