The
US 50 bridge is the only crossing of the Potomac River between Maryland
and West Virginia for a distance of 20 miles. Thus, not only is
it a through route for east-west motorists, but it serves an important
role for local residents and employees.
In
the early 1980s, the then existing bridge was in poor condition
and needed to be replaced. We provided the surveys and design of
both a temporary structure to carry traffic during construction
and the 350-foot long replacement structure over the Potomac River
and the CSX railroad.
