OH FREEDOM AFTER WHILE
Candace O'Conner
Candace O'Connor is a freelance feature writer and editor, with
her own St.
Louis-based business. Her work has been published both locally and
nationally in many magazines and newspapers, including the St. Louis
Post-Dispatch, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, TWA Ambassador, Hemispheres,
and Historic Preservation. She is a frequent contributor to magazines and
other publications at Washington University and Washington University School
of Medicine. She is co-author of the upcoming book, St. Louis Tapestry.
O'Connor has also written the scripts for several historical documentaries,
as well as many successful grant proposals. Along with her writing
assignments, she has been active as a book editor. For several years, she
was editor in chief of the Missouri Historical Society Book Press. To date,
she has edited and revised ten books, including St. Louis: An Informal
History of the City and its People, 1764-1865 and Discovering
African-American St. Louis: A Guide to Historic Sites. She is a member of
the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA).
