John A. Wagner
Director of ADR Services, Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service
John A. Wagner began his career as a federal mediator with FMCS in 1973,
serving in the Chicago and Washington, D.C. field offices. He was promoted to special
assistant to the Director in 1976, before moving back to the field as District Preventive
Mediation Coordinator.
From 1977 until 1987, he mediated private, public and Federal sector
collective bargaining disputes; age discrimination complaints and facilitated public
policy regulatory negotiations.
A graduate of St. Peters College (NJ) and George Mason University
(MS in Conflict Management) he has lectured at numerous universities including the
University of Moscow and instructed for GMU at the Organization of American States.
Currently, Mr. Wagner is responsible for the agencys Alternative
Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Age Discrimination Programs as well as outreach and training
coordinator for the agencys Arbitration program. He serves on the Board of the
Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University and Chair for
the Arlington Catholic Diocese Fact Finding Panel.
