Caterpillar, UAW Leaders In Fourth Meeting with FMCSRepresentatives of the United Auto Workers and Caterpillar Inc. met this week for the fourth time in recent months with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) in private discussions, reviewing the principal issues in the dispute between the Peoria, Illinois-based heavy equipment manufacturer and the UAW, which represents approximately 13,000 workers at Caterpillar facilities in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Colorado and Tennessee. FMCS Director John Calhoun Wells said the discussions continue to be useful. "I appreciate the company and unions continued willingness to meet and search for common ground," said Dr. Wells, who will continue communicating directly with UAW Vice President Richard Shoemaker and Caterpillar Vice President of Human Services Division Wayne Zimmerman. No dates or locations have been set for future meetings. |
