"Let's Do Lunch!"
Show Guides
Event Calendar

Let's Do Lunch is a "daily dose of local culture." Every weekday from noon to 1 pm, host René Engel brings you conversation, live performances and remote broadcasts from various cultural centers around the Southland. From the Petersen Automotive Museum and a discussion of the Miracle Mile district to West Los Angeles and a look at the revitalization of Westwood, Let's Do Lunch takes listeners on a tour of the places, people and events that make Los Angeles a cultural Mecca. This audio smorgasbord has featured Joni Mitchell talking about exhibiting her paintings, a book reading at the new TeenScape wing at the Central Library in Downtown Los Angeles, and a kibitzing session with Borscht-belt comic legends like Red Buttons. A post-modern version of the much-loved radio program "Luncheon at the Music Center," which aired on KFAC, Let's Do Lunch is a borderless excursion through the many worlds of Los Angeles. It immerses listeners in all the music, art, events, people and views that define - or rather defy defining - the L.A. cultural scene. In short, it's lunch well spent.

René Engel
KCSN's General Manager has come full circle. In the late 1970s, René began his radio career as a classical music host at KCSN before leaving to work behind the scenes and on the air at several other public radio stations in Los Angeles. In 1997, René returned to KCSN as its General Manager and the rest is history. Aside from his position as GM, René hosts Citybilly every Sunday (5 to 7pm) and Let's Do Lunch, a daily dose of culture featured weekdays (Noon to 1pm). Los Angeles is a long way from René's birthplace of Antwerp, Belgium, but when his parents moved from Europe to L.A. when René was a boy, they were putting kismet in motion. René's adopted home promised him a destiny as a local hero. In fact, René was almost nominated to city government because so many voters wrote in his name. Lucky for us, he didn't win.
