Much rhetoric exists in leadership and management circles about the importance of people to the organization's success. Millions of dollars are allocated to recruiting, training and keeping talented employees, and millions more on public-relations and advertising campaigns aimed as much to prospective and current employees as to investors and the general public.

Why, then, do many leaders and their management gurus casually use such degrading and deflating language as "human capital" and "retooling" employees? Why has the predominant trend of the past two decades been the elimination of people and the decimation of organizational culture for the sole purpose of building wealth for a slim minority of investors (despite negative effects on longer term productivity)?

We at Ivy Sea have created this portal as a place to house and discuss alternatives to this way of doing business; to share ideas about how to create a financially healthy organization that truly values the people it employs and serves — an approach that promotes right relationship as well as financial stability. We welcome your ideas, and offer a few of our own.
